Bleu Gorgone #01

Bleu Gorgone #01

Bleu Gorgone #01 is a nuclear reactor.

This interactive installation was inspired by the Cherenkov effect, which is a phenomenon similar to a shock wave, producing an impression of flashes when a particle underwater moves faster than the speed of light. This effect results in the emission of a blue glow surrounding the core of an immersed nuclear reactor. In this instance, the blue evokes an interesting paradox between the peaceful and infinite symbolism of the colour and the danger represented by the radioactive material, as well as the physical degradations it can engender.

Glass aquarium, metallic structure, 405 nm lasers, servomotor, electronic circuit, 150 x 30 x 30 cm.
